I spent my weekend coiling wire in spirals. I made 3 hair sticks, one completed necklace, and the focal and clasp for another necklace. The hair sticks are all copper, but the necklaces are sterling silver. I don't want to use sterling for hair sticks. Too expensive for simple accessories, too difficult to clean if they tarnish.

I mixed up some liver of Sulfur for the necklaces and one of the sticks. Put the patina on and tumbled them for hours. Naturally I had to patina and tumble the copper stick topper before attaching it to the stick. I spent my weekend in a jumble of wire and pliers and stinking LOS mixture, and then felt utterly miserable yesterday. A sinus infection, I think. My fingers and wrists ached from wrestling with the wire. My throat felt raw and thick, coated in cotton and sand.

I've used up all of my copper wire. I ordered more today. At least that is still relatively cheap. Every time I order sterling silver it seems to have gone up by a few more dollars.

But I am satisfied. Despite my misery yesterday (spent wallowing in blankets and cursing pollen and pliers and the lack of good movies on TV), I got a lot accomplished. I have that deep satisfaction of finished projects. Now I just have to photograph the first necklace and assemble the second one. So I still have one unfinished thing.
