I finally learned metalsmithing earlier this year, which is a skill I've wished to acquire for a long time now. It's been fun, so far. A few burns here and there, but it's worth the pain (and the scars I'm sure I'll have from the latest). My etsy shop is very, very slow right now. Oh well. I do this because I love it, not just to sell things. Still, it would be nice to make enough that I didn't fret about the cost of silver right now, or the latest tool I need. The weather has been odd this year, swinging from one extreme to the next. There's always too much, or not enough. Too hot, too cold. Constant rain, or none for weeks on end. It's been a tempermental year indeed. Right now the sharpness of autumn is starting to creep in, bringing with it all the things I love about the season. Halloween is coming soon, which has always been my favorite holiday. I've decorated my front porch with pumpkins (they're my wedding pumpkins, in fact, since I originally bought them to help decorate for that occasion), and hung a suitably spooky wreath from my front door. I've been absent for a long time. A very long time, in fact. I sort of forgot about my deviantART page in my mad rush to get my Etsy shop off the ground, and then just life in general. I bought a house this year, changed jobs, and got married. I had a major family crisis that I'm still dealing with. It's been a hell of a year, a crazy year, a year of changes both good and bad. But I've vowed to start updating my poor neglected page more often, and I really will try to stick to it. Perhaps now that I've gotten so many major life events out of the way, I can settle down for a little while. Fingers crossed, at least.
